The Neuroscience of Change and Its Real-World Application for HR Professionals

This is our annual joint meeting with

    About our Speaker:
    Susan Slater, PhD, Corvus International

Dr. Susan Slater comes to CSSHRM to share her expertise about how the change impacts our brain, how that often plays out in our work and personal lives, and how we, as business leaders and HR professionals, can use our knowledge about the "neuroscience of change" to be more personally effective and more impactful working with other individuals and groups.  Dr. Slater has applied these concepts successfully with her clients and will share real-world examples of how her clients successfully applied the ideas during organizational and business changes. Her clients include American Airlines, Disney, United Airlines, Motorola, AT&T, and large healthcare systems in the Chicago area. Susan has been recognized by her clients for her ability to communicate technical concepts in an entertaining, insightful manner.

Dr. Slater earned her doctorate in Industrial Psychology from The Illinois Institute of Technology in 1984. In her role as International Market Research Manager for United Airlines, Susan designed and executed numerous evaluation programs and executive assessments.  As Cargo Pricing Manager for the startup Pacific operation, she was responsible for optimizing over $250 million in annual traffic.  She has also served in a support role in the aftermath of airline disasters, providing assistance to families of victims and survivors as well as United's crash support staff themselves.

During her career, Susan has been a program developer and Master Instructor for numerous organizations: IIT, United Airlines, Motorola, Disney, AT&T, GenCorp, Ameritech, PathoGenesis, MTN Cameroon Fiat, American Airlines, and many others.  Her specialty has been in the areas of evaluation and skills assessment, and in team building, especially in technical areas.  Working with a wide range of non-technical and technical staffs, from communications engineers and software systems developers to medical and pharmaceutical  firms to construction and automotive companies, Susan has both a great range of experience, and a significant depth of knowledge in the real-world application of Human Resource programs.

    About our Speaker:
    Jeff Gonyea Biography:
By the time I graduated from college, my life was a mess! I was graduating with a degree I had no intention of using. I didn't have a job. I was on the verge of being homeless. I was very deep in personal debt (none of it from school loans) and I had no idea what the future was going to hold for me. My life was a mess!

To turn my life around, I turned to reading self-help books. During three years of enlisted time, plus four years as an officer on active duty in the Air Force, then another four years of civil service, I dedicated myself to learning everything I could about the world of success and achievement by reading hundreds of books covering all areas of personal development. On a day I remember like it was yesterday, I learned the one secret I needed to succeed.

Using that secret, I created the life of my dreams and started Succelsior to assist others achieve the same Epic Goal I had achieved - living the life I had been dreaming of!
